The interdisciplinary workshop on «Mediality & Wonder» will investigate the media history of wonder in the arts from the Middle Ages to the present. By drawing on case studies (from literature, film and dance), we seek to analyze the ways in which wonder is constructed and staged in and through media. This also touches upon the question of how the mediality of wonder, sensual/body knowledge and theories of perception are linked together. Furthermore, we will discuss theoretical approaches to a media history of wonder and which role wonder plays in processes of the transformation of media constellations (printing press, photography, film, digitalization).
